cracker box baby quilt for a friend

this is a very bad picture. I should have removed the ivy quilt from the bed before i got started laying it out. but here it is in all it's "ugggh ness". i will have to purchase white to finish out the blocks. the quilt will either be 35.25 X 35.25 OR 35.25 x 23.5 before boarders are added. this is my inspiration

these are my fabrics. i love them but they look washed out now that they are cut.

baby quilt 1 1/2" scraps

up close and personal. there are 900 1 1/2" squares in this quilt. i quilted it with light brown thread to blend in. i quilted it in what i call "the lazy snail" in the mini 9 patches that make up the "blocks."

pool started

got a call yesterday, 20 minutes later they started digging and after a total of about an hour and a half they were done.

goodreads.com

ok, so i'm a reader. i love to read almost any genre. i got ahold of some books at a garage sale a few weeks ago and fell inlove with the cover of a book so i didn't bother reading the back. needless to say, or maybe i do need to say, the book was trash. nothing but "justified" trash. (i felt like the author was trying to justify the afair the entire book!) the thing is, i feel like i need to finish every book i start. i've only not read 1 this year that i've started.

so my new goal is to not waste time reading obvious trash when it starts like this... (paraphrasing) "i've felt like i've needed a break for over a year. kelly going to college and mom cutting off a finger(who knows y? (you do find out)) give me the out that i've been looking for. blah blah blah. 300+ pages later and i get to count it in the 58 books read this year out of my goal of 104.

10 books on the shelf waiting for me to open the cover and then log them into goodreads.

doll quilts

this is how one customer is using the doll quilts, pretty neat!

this pic is of the back of 2 doll quilts finished by hand. I sew the binding on roughly 1/4" on the front, wrap the material around and RUNNING stitch it on. this way no thread is seen and to me it looks cleaner than how some books say to finish binding.

wow, i used to blog more

i just checked my comments for the first time. now, i can't figure out how to get back to them. i did, however, reply to Anna about canning chicken and i HOPE she doesn't delete my email without reading it first.
life has still gone on and i've only posted a fraction of what i do. i don't know what happened to my desire to blog. i think i blog less because no one reads it.
i've done less quilting, i didn't garden last year (but i still canned), and MR. Joe is now a year and has out grown his baby quilts. i'm working on his and his father's ohio state quilts for Christmas. i turned in 1 quilt to be quilted by the end of june. i have 1 quilt that is over half done but i'm looking for new charm squares to finish it with a fresher take on fabric, thank you Macy for allowing me to browes your fabric.
i've read 56 books this year and my goal is 104. I do 5-6 sudoku puzzles a day.

Berry box quilt

i am unable to get the entire quilt because it is way to wide and almost not long enough for a queen bed. when i planned the quilt it was to be viewed like this. i like it better in the next picture.

it took many many tries to get everything to line up correctly. i realized i had sewn one berry box upside down and it was streatching and that is why it didn't fit correctly. once i frogged it and sewed it back in i was able to finish the quilt. love it!!!
